African Eco was born out of opportunity while undertaking numerous horticultural hard & soft landscaping projects.
Loose aggregate, a popular product used by landscapers to define formal & informal paths is aesthetically pleasing, but tends to migrate to areas where it is not wanted. Resin Bound Surfacing has the same textured, earthy appeal as loose aggregate, but has the added advantage of a providing a smooth, yet porous; seamless and hard wearing finish. It is also slip resistant and low maintenance making it perfect for both domestic and commercial use. With this in mind, African Eco formed a strategic partnership with two specialist providers in the United Kingdom, enabling us to provide a top quality, surface landscaping solution to the South African market. We also provide a turnkey solution to incorporate necessary ground works if required.
About Resin Bound Surfacing
A two part UV resistant polyurethane resin binder is mixed with the selected, decorative aggregate. The aggregate is then cold poured, hand trowelled and power floated to obtain a smooth seamless finish. Once cured, the aggregate forms a durable hard surface that is fully porous and is SUDS compliant (Sustainable Urban Drainage System).
BBA approved, the resin binder is the number 1 choice of architects and engineers around the globe.
The aggregate can be installed over most solid substrates dependant on usage. Low maintenance, anti-slip and aesthetically pleasing makes this the perfect product for all your hard landscaping requirements.
The Challenge & Solution
The attractive look and feel of the aggregate is highly important, but clients, home owners and Grounds Keepers do not want the maintenance headache of managing migrating stone. Loose aggregate tends to be user-unfriendly when it comes to wheel chairs, push prams and general foot traffic. Resin Bound Surfacing ticks all the boxes whether it be a new property build, a renovation or a 300 year old historical estate in the Cape Winelands.
Applications
Blends consist of 27% to 100% recycled content depending on aggregates.
No surface water. Rainwater drains through the bound surface into substrate when installed onto a porous base build up.
Clear UV binder so colour is retained. Please note, natural bleaching of aggregates by sunlight will occur over the product’s lifespan.
Easy to clean by sweeping and power washing as required.
Hard wearing with lifespan in excess of traditional asphalt – see our BBA certificate for details.
All aggregate bound with resin so no migrating stone issues.
The product is finished with glass grit to give the surface good slip resistance.
